So much to see and do ...

San Diego, California, is one of North America’s most attractive cities. Its temperate climate, family-friendly activities, gorgeous beaches, epicurean delights, theaters, museums and distinctive neighborhoods offer an incredible range of opportunities for travelers.

Balboa Park

This urban cultural oasis features historic theaters, gorgeous gardens, restaurants, shopping and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. The San Diego Air and Space Museum, Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, Museum of Photographic Arts, and San Diego Automotive Museum are amongst the attractions that helped to earn Balboa Park the nickname “Smithsonian of the West.”

Downtown

Downtown San Diego is an urban renewal success story with a range of attractions: Little Italy, Gaslamp Quarter, East Village and Embarcadero among them. Candice Eley, San Diego Tourism Authority director of communications, notes Little Italy, on downtown’s north end, as incredibly vibrant—with highly acclaimed restaurants, including several with chefs who are Top Chef series alumni.

La Jolla

Boutiquing, gallery-hopping and culinary delights attract many visitors, while seaside views, peaceful trails and the opportunity to observe marine life add to this upscale seaside village’s appeal. Explore sea caves, snorkel La Jolla Underwater Park and watch for migrating gray whales from the La Jolla shoreline.

Mission Bay

Stroll Crystal Pier, shop Belmont Park and soak up the sun on Mission Beach and Boardwalk. Mission Bay’s 27 miles of beaches, recreation areas and resorts is the largest man-made aquatic park in the world.

Old Town & Uptown

Enjoy historic architecture, from missions to pueblos and Victorian homes. Break up walking tours with a stop at one of the area’s many cafés and coffee shops or a stroll through the Hillcrest Farmers Market, to build a picnic meal to enjoy at Presidio Park.

Two of San Diego’s most popular tourist attractions will unveil new additions in 2017!

LEGOLAND® California Resort expands its waterpark with Surfer’s Bay, offering competitive raceway water slides, a “spray ground” and new LEGO® models. LEGO® Star Wars™ Miniland will feature six new displays, including the longest Star Wars™ model ever created!

SeaWorld San Diego will open Ocean Explorer. The multimillion-dollar attraction contains multiple aquariums with undersea research bases and interactive activities, featuring submarine rides with state-of-the-art digital technologies to enhance riders’ understanding of the ocean ecosystem. A variety of family-friendly rides will round out the new attraction.

San Diego: The Capital of Craft Beer

San Diego’s craft beer scene is booming! If you’ve planned a beer-themed tour or seek a fun lunch or dinner venue, the places are plenty. Whether your group appreciates a hip vibe, seaside views, farm-to-table dining or a traditional beer garden setting, you’ll find it among the area’s 130+ microbrewery options.

Because it’s easy to find areas of town with multiple breweries, self-guided tours including five or six breweries within walking distance of each other come easily.

San Diego hosts Beer Week festivities November 3 – 12, 2017.

ASTA Global Convention

San Diego, August 26 – 29, 2017

Explore San Diego’s diverse offerings, including watersports and hiking, arts and culture, and locally-produced beer and wine. The Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina hosts the ASTA Global Convention (AGC), placing conference attendees in a central location to experience all San Diego offers: al fresco dining in Little Italy, biking in the quaint island of Coronado, boutiquing in La Jolla, strolling the historic Gaslamp Quarter, and enjoying fresh seafood, beaches and waterfront concerts.

“The Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina is a great property,” said Candice Eley, San Diego Tourism Authority director of communications. “It’s convenient to the airport, a quick ride to Balboa park, and the Embarcadero and USS Midway are within walking distance.”

Opportunities to explore the local flavor will supplement AGC’s innovative, exciting educational programming and supplier tradeshow. The San Diego Tourism Authority hosts a welcome reception Sunday, August 27, at SeaWorld, featuring free park admission and animal interaction opportunities, and sightseeing tours to area attractions such as the historic aircraft carrier USS Midway at Navy Pier, the famous San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park, home to many San Diego museums and restaurants.
